We are family...

This unit is called "The Joy of Family Security, Identity and Pride." These are the Family Circle Chains that Ches and Elise created. The two things that link the family together are "LOVE" and "JOY." : )

These pretty light catchers were our Mother's Day art activity, a few classes back. I got this idea from Trina's blog about an art activity they did at their preschool... I wish I had done more with the interview about how the kids feel about their moms that was suggested in the manual but we ran out of time. However, I did ask the kids why they love their moms, and the kids said some sweet things. Ches said he loves to play with his mom. I think that says a lot about how present she is with her children and also a lot about her imagination/creativity. (Have you seen their rainy day movie?) Mark said he loves his mom because she takes good care of him and cleans up his throw-up. I think his awareness of his mom's sacrifices and his gratitude is so touching and it says a lot about how Gina is always serving her family (and others) with patience and love. Elise said that she just loves me, which tickles me pink because there may be many reasons why we love our family, but often we love them in spite of things/imperfections.

Michelle joined us that day and everyone made truly unique light catchers. We talked briefly about how our last names tell everyone what family we belong to and how wonderful it is that we are a part of a family that loves us.

I hope everyone had a fabulous Mother's Day! I'm sure you did. : )
